Congratulations to Dr Sarah Nurse
On the 30th of May 2019, BAPS project member Sarah Nurse was officially awarded her PhD in social statistics and demography from the University of Southampton.
Sarah's PhD thesis was entitled "Dispersal, Deprivation and Data: Asylum Seekers and Refugees since 1999", and looked at the spatial and socio-economic characteristics of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK since the dispersal policy was introduced in 1999, with particular focus on the data gaps and possible ways of filling them with information available from multiple sources. Sarah has been continuing the strand of her work related to the evaluation of data sources within the first work package of the BAPS project, this time with focus on Syrian asylum-related migration to Europe. Congratulations, Sarah!
